SUBJECT: EAGLE VFD VERSION I,

SOFTWARE UPGRADE

 

 

 

 

 

The SyncroFlo Eagle VFD was introduced to the golf Irrigation Market eight years ago. These machines were equipped with a Toshiba VFD, an OMRON PLC, analog instrumentation and then state of the art “ladder logic” programming.

 

Three years ago SyncroFlo introduced a more modern version of this already successful and efficient product. Also called the Eagle VFD, the new machines were equipped with an ABB VFD, a Mitsubishi PLC, digital instrumentation, a more user friendly operator interface terminal and upgraded software for even more efficient operation.

 

Although it is not realistic to expect that earlier version of the Eagle VFD can be easily upgraded without substantial expense, SyncroFlo has recently incorporated some advantages from the newer Mitsubishi programming into the previous OMRON program. Basically, an accelerator routine has been added that inhibits the starting of main motors if the system pressure is rising even though it may still be below the present set point.

 

The benefits of this are; 1) Fewer motors will be run unless absolutely needed for the present demand thereby reducing power consumption and operating and maintenance costs and, 2) Less hydraulic surging will be experienced that can be damaging to older pipe and also cause the relief valve to operate more often than might be expected.

 

Smoother operation, longer life and reduced operating costs are all advantages that can be attained by simply installing a new program cartridge, reloading factory or jobsite settings and then irrigating as normal. No other changes to the pump station or irrigation controllers are necessary.

 

The cost of this upgrade us $250, plus $250 which will be refunded upon return receipt of the original program cartridge.
